Richard P. Santos is a retired Fire Captain of 33 years of service with the San Jose Fire Department and currently is an elected Director of District 3 at the Santa Clara Valley Water District. Dick was a member of the San Jose Police and Firefighters Retirement System for 12 years and is a life long San Jose Firefighters Union Activist. Dick played Santa Claus and provided gifts for the Santa Clara County Children’s Shelter for numerous years. Dick also organized breakfast feeding for low income senior citizens and provided prepared meals at San Jose City Teams for the Homeless.
Richard P. Santos was Chairmen of the Alviso Library fund raiser to provide funding for the transition of the old Alviso Library to the present Alviso Library/Community Center. As Chairman of the Santa Visits Alviso Foundation he oversees the organization and operations, makes scheduled meetings and focuses on providing funding to benefit attending children with gifts, education and scholarships. Dick continues to make sure the Alviso Community and residents have a voice and representation at San Jose City Hall.
On March 12, 2007, The Berryessa Citizens Advisory Council advocates for residents of District 4 presented Santa Clara Valley Water District Director, Richard P. Santos with the 16th annual Citizen of the Year – 2006 award, presented by the BCAD President Mike Flaugher.
